November 2025 - Lisandro’s Story
In my senior year it hit me: it was time to get serious about my future. Graduation wasn’t years away anymore, it was right around the corner. I’m grateful that on the day of my “lanzamiento” as I looked out into the amphitheater, I saw countless people who genuinely cared for me. People who gave me the unique, loving community that you find at Doulos. With that community behind me, the future wasn’t scary.
“Lanzamiento” — a mid-year senior ceremony in the DR
A little about me…
I’m 21 years old and I’m a Doulos grad.
I serve at Doulos as the Executive Assistant and also coach middle school basketball!
Something that not very many people know about me is that I play the saxophone. 🎷
Doulos did more than just educate me; it helped transform my faith. I grew up going to church, but honestly, I was not a Christian then. It was the environment at Doulos… the intentional Christian living, the dedicated teachers, and meaningful chapels that helped mold me. At first, chapel was just something I had to attend. Later, I realized it was something I needed to help me grow as a person and a future adult. The direct, truthful messages helped me see God’s calling for my life.
Now I’m back at Doulos as the Executive Assistant. I serve at the school I once attended. That relational environment is what drew me back. Having worked at other places, I can tell you the intentional connections with coworkers and students at Doulos are truly different. Here, people really care about you.
“That relational environment is what drew me back.”
My current supervisor compares my role to a Swiss Army knife—always ready to help, whether it’s subbing for a class or translating a meeting. I see it as living out the school’s name: Doulos, meaning servant. I love coaching basketball as well. It’s such a privilege to get to encourage the kids in the same way my teachers and coaches encouraged me.
When I think of the many people who invest in Doulos, I think of them as farmers planting seeds knowing that a harvest will eventually come. Like me, a student might not grasp everything right away, but when challenges arise down the road, they will always remember the crucial lessons they learned here. They will remember the people who made this opportunity possible. I know, because I experienced it. I received help, and now I want to give back to the world what was given to me.
“When I think of the many people who invest in Doulos, I think of them as farmers planting seeds knowing that a harvest will eventually come.”
Thank you so much for helping to raise up this next generation of servant leaders!
New Property Designs
Our 9th & 10th grade students have been designing outdoor classroom spaces for the new property throughout this semester. These spaces will provide classroom type spaces for classes to visit the land and have "class in the woods." A few weeks ago they were able to visit the property and work on clearing the land for the eventual build by groups in the fall.
Class of 2026
Speaking of “lanzamientos,” our class of 2026 just unveiled their senior theme, “Kintsugi,” before their parents and the entire Doulos student body! Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by filling the cracks with gold. For our seniors, this represents how God has melded their class together through every high and low.
Community Experts
Teaching isn't just for teachers! This month we had firemen, our local sheriff, a dentist, a botanist, a capenter, and even more real-world experts from the community that came on campus and made learning unforgettable for our students!
Mini Servant Leaders
Our Pre-K 4 students spent one of their mornings serving around campus. It was both adorable and inspiring to watch them do their very best to help out with office work, in the cafeteria, and in classrooms.
