From Student to Servant Leader: Darwing Espinal's Journey from Doulos to the Skies

Meet Darwing Espinal, a proud graduate of Doulos Discovery School and now an Aeronautical Engineer in the airline industry. As an alum of the Doulos Familia, Darwing credits much of his growth—personally, professionally, and spiritually—to the time he spent at Doulos.

“Doulos helped me grow in a way no other school was able to,” Darwing shares. “It developed in me a deep hunger to help the people around me.”

That hunger for servant leadership led Darwing to become the president of an organization dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. The organization builds supportive networks that empower students not only in their careers but also in all areas of life.

Faith, Confidence, and Purpose

At the heart of Darwing’s journey is the faith foundation built during his time at Doulos.

“Doulos was integral in this because they helped me build my relationship with Christ,” he explains. “They also helped me grow the confidence, hunger, and fire I needed to take on and accomplish these goals.”

This is the heartbeat of a Doulos education—equipping students with the spiritual depth and leadership skills to make a Kingdom impact wherever they go.

A Memory That Still Inspires

When asked to share a favorite memory, Darwing recalls a moment during the 8th grade expedition to Pico Duarte, the tallest mountain in the Caribbean:

“As we were climbing, we found a rubber duck along the trail. We made a rule that the last person to reach the camp had to wear the duck and give everyone a massage. At the time, I wasn’t thrilled... but now, that memory reminds me to embrace who I am—and to use whatever circumstances I’m in to bless others. Even if that means giving a massage for encouragement!”

Why Stories Like Darwing’s Matter

Darwing’s story is just one example of how Doulos Discovery School develops servant-hearted leaders who are ready to serve, lead, and innovate with purpose.

Whether it’s in classrooms, communities, or careers in the sky, Doulos alumni are making a difference for Christ all over the world.
