HISTORY

As you know Doulos Sponsorship Program offers a unique opportunity for students from low-income families to receive a quality, Christ centered education. This education sets them on a path for university studies and ultimately servant leadership that will impact their country.

Doulos Discovery School is not exclusively a sponsorship school. With great intentionality half the students are from middle and high income families. This mix creates yet another unique opportunity. Not only the opportunity of a quality, Christ centered education but much more. In a culture that does not interact between economic classes Doulos is a school environment with a diverse economic demographic that facilitates the changing of perspectives and the breaking down of class barriers.

For the past eight years US Sponsors (and now Dominican Sponsors too!) have generously committed themselves to support Doulos and its students through this unique and Kingdom building project. A great thanks to each of our Doulos Student Sponsors for your partnership with us in the work of equipping servant leaders.

FUTURE

In the past 8 years our students have grown and so has the Doulos Sponsorship Program. The program began with 40 students. There are now 120 students in the program. Each year of growth has been met with Godʼs provision as more sponsors come on board.

As our students grow and learn so do we. We have learned that growth often calls for changes so the work can continue. For this reason we are making a shift from the previous payment scale to a new simplified format.

In the past sponsors paid a monthly rate based on their sponsored studentʼs grade level. As students pass into higher grades, rates increase for sponsors. This occurred every two to three years. After years of following this format we found that it lead to confusion among sponsors and often created a complex sponsorship roster with varied giving amounts.

SOLUTION

To create a better program for our students, our sponsors and our staff, Doulos has made the decision to set a rate for full sponsorship that remains static across all grade levels, from preschool through high school. This shift will provide the same amount of financial support necessary for the success of the program and the students involved. This new rate creates 3 options for involvement.

OPTIONS

To create a better program for our students, our sponsors and our staff, Doulos has made the decision to set a rate for full sponsorship that remains static across all grade levels, from preschool through high school. This shift will provide the same amount of financial support necessary for the success of the program and the students involved. This new rate creates 3 options for involvement.

1. Full Sponsorship: $100 a month with a 12-month commitment

2. Half Sponsorship: $50 a month with a 12-month commitment

Sponsors committing to full or half sponsorship will be partnered with a specific student and receive communications specific to their student as well as updates on the Sponsorship program and school as a whole.

3. Sponsorship Support Fund: $ Amount of your choosing. Monthly or lump sum gifts.

Giving to the Sponsorship Support Fund allows for additional programs and services to be offered within the Sponsorship Program. Support Team members will not be assigned to a specific student but will be contributing to additional need of the program and will receive updates on the Sponsorship program as a whole.$100 a month with a 12-month commitment

• Hot Lunch Program Providing a nourishing meal to our students for our families in most need.

• Expeditions Scholarships Providing additional funds and offsetting costs for class projects and trips related to student expeditions.

• Computer Scholarships Providing affordable laptops for our high school sponsorship students who are required to have computers.

• Medical Emergency Relief Providing additional funds for families who are burdened with the unexpected expense of illness or accident. 

RESULTS

We are confident that this change will lead to positive results for all involved. For sponsors, consistent rates makes things simple and straightforward. For Students, two sponsorship options helps them have no more than two sponsors at any given time which contributes to the personal connection we hope for in our program. For Doulos staff, this shift will facilitate an orderly sponsor roster, that will ultimately lead to improved communications and management of the Sponsorship Program.
